End of the Word – Armageddon

Is it the end of the World?  Obviously not.  We’re still here.  So what is the truth behind the calendar and the history of the Mayans?

Rumors have flooded everyone’s imagination until any semblance of accuracy has been completely washed away.  Thanks to the Houston Museum of Natural Science the true meaning of the Mayan Calandar is explained in a detailed video that clearly explains their calendar, their beliefs, and what the end of the calendar meant.  It is a must watch video!

In the Classroom

This can be shown in the classroom so that students understand the Mayan Calandar the true story in a video format to generate further learning.  Discussions can ensue based not only upon history, but on math number systems.  The Mayans did not use a base 10 number system.  Their religious and political beliefs can be discussed.  The impact of the calandar upon their agriculture.  Their water systems and choice of location for settlements, if you want to learn more about their water system you can read an in depth review here. They also have a good understanding of the stars and their relationships to the rest of the galaxy, and even discussion on the technology used for the making of the video can be brought up.
